From the construction of carriages to the wood business

Join us and discover our origins and evolution until we become Gabarró, a leading, innovative company, committed to sustainability and the environment, and with a great human capital that allows us to evolve day after day.

Our first relationship with wood dates back to the end of the 19th century, as we started with the construction of carriages, the predominant means of transport at the time.

Anton Isern and Antònia Taulé, settled in Sabadell, start the business that leads us to be who we are today. During the following years, the business evolved and we no longer only devoted ourselves to the manufacture of carriages, but also to the trade of wood for manufacturing, with the commercialization of local wood for the Spanish market and, also, the first machinery for transformation.

In 1908, Esteve Gabarró participated in the Spanish-French Exhibition in Zaragoza and received recognition for his business work.

Late 19th century

With the rise of the industrial sector and a more expansive vision of the business, Joan Gabarró Fontcaba approaches the beginning of the 20th century by diversifying the activity: trade in firewood, preparation of wood for the important textile industry of Sabadell and wood for in housing construction.

Beginning of the 20th century

Esteve, Joan and Ramon Gabarró Badia run the business from the 60s, a period of great commercial and industrial activity in which the sale of wood grows.

As a result, we already have the first agglomerated wooden boards and the first melamine in stock. In this period we also established a small commercial network dedicated to offering the first solutions for carpenters and other related industries, both in Catalonia and in the north of the province of Castelló.

Mid 20th century

At the end of the 90s, we became Gabarró Hermanos, specialists in the distribution of wood and derived products.
During these years, under the general direction of Ramon Gabarró Taulé, we incorporated a number of wood warehouses throughout the Peninsula that are added to those already existing in Sabadell, Gavà and Polinyà:
Benifaión (Valencia) – 1996
Fuenlabrada (Madrid) – 2007
Vitoria (Basque Country) – 2014
Málaga (Andalusia) – 2016
Santiago de Compostela (Galicia) - 2018

In 2021, we moved all the central services to the renovated facilities in Polinyà, with a surface area of 38,000 m2 from which we supply the warehouses located in the rest of the peninsula on a daily basis.

The new facilities of our central warehouse allow us to offer a better service and to be a wood warehouse of reference for our customers, because in one warehouse we have concentrated all our extensive range of materials and first brands: solid and sawn wood , great diversity of boards, indoor and outdoor floors and also Solid Surface.

In these renovated facilities, we have made a clear commitment to innovation and value-added services, such as our cutting and machining service with the Grudner robotic arm, which allows us to organize and optimize all production tasks.
