Capacity of being impregnated
  • Sapwood: medium capacity of being impregnated.
  • Heartwood: nearly no capable of being impregnated.
Mechanical properties
  • Resistance to static flexion 900 kg/cm2.
  • Elasticity module 87,000 kg/cm2.
  • Resistance to compression 470 kg/cm2.
  • Resistance to parallel traction 850 kg/cm2.
Mechanization
  • Sawing process: no difficulties, except irritation due to irritating dust.
  • Drying process: speed can vary from medium to high speed. Little risk of deformation and crack formation.
  • Planing process: no difficulties except  the risk of repelling produced by pieces of intertwined fibers and the previously mentioned of irritating dust.
  • Gluing process: Risk of staining due to the use of alkaline glues.
  • Nailing and screwing process: risk of crack formation. Pre-drilling is recommended.
  • Finish: no difficulties.
Physical properties
  • Apparent density at 12% humidity 540 kg/m3 semi-light wood.
  • Dimensional stability
  • - Volumetric contraction coefficient 0.4% stable wood.
  • - Relation between contractions 1.61 no tendency to deformity.
  • Hardness (Chaláis-Meudon) 2.7 semi-softwood.
Observations
  • Presenta vetes molt marcades de color fosc i fins i tot el vena greix que és una ratlla fina i de color negre.
