Gabarró collaborates with the Barcelona's Architecture Week 2018
The Architects Association of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, in collaboration with Barcelona Building Construmat and ArquinFAD, are promoting Architecture Week 2018, a shared initiative that will take place in different stages of Barcelona from 10 to 20 May and in which Gabarró has collaborated.
During these days and within the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the city will become the epicenter of a wide range of activities related to the world of architecture and the city, which want to contribute to reinforce the value it has for citizens and citizens their built urban environment.
Gabarró wanted to contribute to reinforce the existing link between architecture and citizenship, which is why he has collaborated with the cession of the necessary material for the exhibition "Arquitecturas desaparecidas". This exhibition aims to show that architecture and urbanism are a living organism that changes over time and that sometimes ends up disappearing. Therefore, we want to show a set of works located in different parts of the city and that can not be visited nowadays.
In this exhibition, 10 totem poles (one in each district of Barcelona) made with pine wood slats ceded by Gabarró have been installed from which to observe the current building and then see and understand its past and its evolution. A construction that seeks to see the styles, uses, social values and traces that define the fabric of the city.
In addition, an extensive program of events has also been prepared, with exhibitions, conferences, film screenings, guided tours and dissemination spaces in all the districts.
From Gabarró we are delighted to be able to collaborate with the Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya in initiatives of this type, which aim to bring architecture, urbanism and design closer to the public in an interesting, entertaining and participative way.
